Veteran French actor Alain Delon has received honorary Palme d’Or from the 72nd Cannes Film Festival in France.
According to Variety online magazine, at a ceremony held on Sunday veteran French actor Alain Delon received the honorary Palme d’Or.
Alain Delon who is an icon of the European film industry has starred in more than 80 films. He received the prize for his six decade-long acting career.
Upon accepting his honorary Palme d’Or from the hands of his daughter, Anouchka, a tearful Delon said his biggest life achievement, besides his daughter, was his long career which he said was now over.
“For me, it’s more than the end of a career. It’s the end of a life. It feels that I’m receiving a posthumous tribute while being alive,” said Delon.
The 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival is currently taking place from 14 to 25 May 2019.
